At approx 4 years old, Groot has already endured more than any dog ever should. He was found dumped in a parking lot with over 100 BBs embedded throughout his body, three large-caliber bullets lodged in his skull and back, and a severely damaged leg that ultimately required amputation after multiple surgeries.

Despite every reason not to trust the world, Groot has never stopped loving it.

His favorite place is wherever his people are. He'll happily lean all 100 pounds of himself into you for cuddles, gently rest his head in your lap, and remind you that the biggest dogs often have the softest hearts.

Groot has adjusted beautifully to life as a tripod and doesn't let having three legs slow him down one bit. He enjoys exploring, relaxing with his people, and soaking up every ounce of love he's missed out on.

Groot has done well with other dogs and has enjoyed canine companionship. Because of his size and enthusiasm, we're looking for a home without small dogs. He would likely do best with medium to large canine friends who can match his play style.
