GI Joe is a big, lovable potato with a whole lot of love to give! This sweet boy is an independent snuggle bug who is happiest hanging out with his people, lounging on the couch, or sitting outside soaking up the sunshine.
He gets along wonderfully with both dogs and cats. He’s comfortable sleeping alongside other animals, and while he may show some interest when first meeting a cat, he quickly leaves them alone, no chasing here! He also eats peacefully around other dogs with no resource guarding.
GI Joe is the ultimate couch potato and absolutely loves his crate. He can sleep 12+ hours overnight and is often happy to snooze for another couple of hours after his morning potty break.
He isn’t looking for a home that expects daily walks or long adventures. GI Joe tires easily, so structured access to a fenced yard is ideal. Give him the opportunity to go outside and he’ll take care of business. He’ll even let you know when he’s ready by going to the door. He understands “outside” and “house” and does great going in and out. He walks nicely on leash, but if you have a fenced yard, he’ll probably take a few steps before deciding, “Yep, this is a great place to plop down.”
Because he’s still building his stamina, carpets and runners are best for him around the house. Paw wax can also help with slipping and sliding on hardwood floors.
GI Joe is learning quickly and is already responding to his foster’s whistle, he’ll lift his head or come over when he hears it. He’s also picking up “come” very easily!
And if you’re looking for a built-in home security system, GI Joe has a deep, impressive bark that will let you know when someone is on the property or when the delivery driver has arrived.
If your idea of the perfect dog is a sweet, low-key companion who wants to lounge, love, nap, and enjoy the occasional backyard adventure, GI Joe may be your guy.
